About the Elysian Awards

The Elysian Awards were founded by Dr Charlotte Williams, CEO and founder of Elysian, a UK-based organisation known for its pioneering work in therapeutic education, animal-assisted interventions, outreach, and creative care.

These awards were created to shine a light on the quiet changemakers, those who bring compassion, creativity and courage to their work, often without recognition.

Rooted in Elysian’s ethos, the awards celebrate people who go beyond systems and tick-boxes. People who show up, build trust, take risks, and offer something truly human in education, health, care, outreach and therapeutic work.

Why We Created the Awards

The idea for the Elysian Awards came from real-life conversations and frustrations. At Elysian, we regularly work alongside professionals from other services – teachers, support workers, therapists, social workers, and outreach teams – who go above and beyond every day, often with little recognition.

We saw the gap. Many of these individuals are doing exceptional work in complex situations, but their efforts often go unnoticed because they don’t fit neatly into traditional systems or outcomes. Their impact is relational, creative, and grounded in care – and that kind of work doesn’t always get the spotlight.

The Elysian Awards were created to change that. We wanted to offer a space where these professionals could be seen, appreciated and celebrated. Not because of job titles or frameworks, but because of how they show up for others.

Each category reflects this aim. Whether it’s for innovation, lived experience, leadership, or therapeutic support, the focus is on recognising the real work – the kind that changes lives, even when no one is watching.

Elysian is a UK-based organisation offering therapeutic learning, animal-assisted interventions, outreach programmes and professional development. We work with children, young people, families, adults and professionals who seek something more relational, creative and human than traditional systems often allow.

We believe in co-created futures, in meeting people where they are, and in building connection through care, nature, animals and community. The Elysian Awards reflect these values and expand them — to honour others in our sector and beyond who are walking the same path.

About The Founder

Dr Charlotte Williams is the founder and CEO of Elysian, a UK organisation known for its therapeutic education, outreach, and animal-assisted interventions. With a background in social care, children’s rights, and leadership, Charlotte has spent over two decades working with children, young people and families who are often misunderstood or excluded by traditional systems.

Her work is rooted in relationship-based, creative and values-led practice. Elysian was founded to offer something different – a place where people are seen, supported and able to thrive on their own terms.

The Elysian Awards are a natural extension of that vision. Created to recognise professionals who lead with heart, courage and imagination, the awards reflect Charlotte’s ongoing commitment to honouring the work that changes lives, even when no one is watching.

“This is about the kind of work that doesn’t chase recognition – but deeply deserves it.”
– Dr Charlotte Williams
